Make It Yours

One of Paradigm Capital’s clients, Louise Burton, has launched a very exciting new business in Sussex which may be of interest to many. As well as wishing Louise good luck and every success with her new venture, I’d also like to take this opportunity to introduce ‘Make It Yours Workshops’ and to follow is an extract from a recent press article:

“A new Sussex-based business called MAKE IT YOURS is launched this Spring offering fun, hands-on workshops, all on a home and country crafts theme.

Working out of three beautiful venues near Crowborough, Lewes and Uckfield, MAKE IT YOURS’ experience days are designed to be friendly and fun, and make great ideas for birthdays, gifts and special occasions. Workshops will focus on projects for the home, garden and lifestyle; from the practical to the plain self-indulgent, with expert tuition from some of county’s best craftspeople.
A broad and original programme has been carefully crafted and events for late spring and summer include: A Wild Food Masterchef Day where guests will forage for, then cook up a feast of natural bounty over an open fire, gaining an inspirational insight into the natural world around us; there’s workshops on how to make real bread, English cider and perfect the dark art of tempering chocolate; Vintage Hair & Make Up Styling is on offer with time-honoured but not forgotten beauty tips; as well as blending, brewing, and bottling a variety of potions and elixirs for health and beauty in a Herbal Oils, Creams & Salves workshop. There are also sewing and craft workshops where guests can learn to make cool vintage aprons and designer retro home accessories. And for those who like their crafts a little more rural there is Willow Weaving and Basket Making. During the June half term (6 – 8 June) there will be special events for over 12s, with a Bath Bomb Workshop as well as a Teen Cookery Day.

Designed with busy lives in mind, MAKE IT YOURS workshops will run both during the week and at weekends, with courses ranging from just a few hours to a full day. With activities to appeal to both women and men, all courses will be suitable for families, individuals, private and corporate groups and special courses presented during the school holidays for children and teens. The essence of Make It Yours’ experience days is to teach people a very useful new skill, or to hone an old one. Practicality apart, the company’s ethos is to encourage people to take time out to relax, reconnect and discover the simple and restorative pleasure of a handmade project and laughing with friends – so all the workshops feature high in the feel-good factor stakes.
